We understand that lots of families plan to travel and be with loved ones throughout the year . If you plan to travel, please carefully read the information below prior to registering for camp. We are following all CDC guidance regarding travel, including testing and quarantining, so it’s important that you understand these guidelines.
Please carefully review your travel plans prior to registering for camp, and be sure you leave ample time for self-quarantine after returning. If your plans change after registering and you’re no longer able to meet the requirements, please contact us immediately and we’ll credit you for the cost of your missed camps. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our campers, staff, and families safe.
Unvaccinated campers who have not met the self-quarantine requirements after traveling outside of North Carolina will not be admitted to camp, regardless of a negative test.
Per CDC Guidelines for people not fully vaccinated:
After you travel:
- Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 5 days after travel.
- Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
- If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
- Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions About Travel
Why do I still have to quarantine, even with a negative test?
At this time, CDC still recommends a 5-day quarantine for everyone not fully vaccinated, due to the possibility of a false negative within that time.
If my camper is vaccinated, do they still have to quarantine?
No. If your camper is fully vaccinated (2 weeks after the second dose in a 2-dose series such as Moderna or Pfizer, or two weeks after a single dose in a single-dose series such as Johnson & Johnson), they do not need to quarantine after travel, provided that mask-wearing and other appropriate precautions were taken.
What if we’re driving instead of flying?
Regardless of travel method, any travel outside of North Carolina necessitates self-quarantine, due to the possibility of exposure upon arrival.
If I have out-of-state visitors coming to me, do we have to quarantine?
Provided that your visitors follow the guidance in the table above (testing before travel if unvaccinated, wearing a mask and taking precautions during travel, and self-monitoring for symptoms), you will not need to quarantine upon their departure. We encourage that you review the CDC guidelines for safer gatherings and safer holidays while making your plans.
How long will these restrictions be in place?
We’re keeping up with the most recent CDC guidance, and will continue to evaluate and update these policies as guidance changes.
What happens if my plans change?
We understand that plans change! If you realize that you’re not going to be able to meet the quarantine requirements, please contact us as soon as you know, and we will issue you a full credit for your missed camp days.
