Teen Skills Workshop: Fire-Building, Cooking, and Hut- Building

There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction that’s gained from building your own campfire in the woods on a cold day. During this teen workshop, we’ll explore the magic and power of fire and help to foster the respect that it demands. Activities will include learning how to make a friction fire, how to identify and gather proper fire-making materials, and how to build a good cooking fire. Teens that are interested in working on their fire growth rings will have time to do so. And of course no campfire is complete without a few stories and some yummy treats! When not working on their fire, teens will choose a site in the woods and work together to build forest huts of their own unique design and ingenuity. In addition, the Schoolhouse staff will demonstrate ancient building techniques.
