Home School Adventure FAQs

If the information below or on the Homeschool Adventure page doesn’t answer your questions, give us a call at 919-477-2116 or email us at schoolhouse@schoolhouseofwonder.org.

How can I set up a Homeschool Adventure Day?

All you have to do is get a group of at least 10 homeschool students together and we’ll set up a Homeschool Adventure for you! Please call our office (919-477-2116) for details, or email us at schoolhouse@schoolhouseofwonder.org.

Are there specific themes for Homeschool Adventure Days?

A typical Homeschool Adventure Day may include deep woods games, plant and animal identification, hikes, storytelling, fort building, creek exploration, wilderness and naturalist skills such as fire making, and much more.  If you have a specific request for a theme or activity, we would love to hear it and we’ll do our best to incorporate it into the day’s activities.

Where are Homeschool Adventure Days held?

Home School Adventure Days take place at the Carl Alwin Schenk Memorial Forest in Raleigh, NC 27607. The forest does not have a street address, but it is off Reedy Creek Road near where Wade Avenue and Edward Mills Road intersect. If you enter “Carl Alwin Schenk Memorial Forest” in your GPS, this should lead you to the right place.

Do you only offer Homeschool Adventure Days in Wake County?

Not necessarily.  Typically our Homeschool Adventure Days do take place at Schenck Forest in Wake County, but we may be able to set one up for you at either our Durham or Orange County site, depending on staff availability, calendar schedule, etc.
