2025 Storm Recovery
Help Schoolhouse Recover and Thrive After the Storm

2025 has been an incredible year.
-
So far we’ve served more than 5,400 youth across 8 locations in the Triangle
-
We’ve partnered with John Rex Endowment to advance racial equity and improve the social-emotional health of children and families in Wake County
-
And thanks to you, we were honored by Durham Magazine and the INDY as leaders in our industry.
Then Tropical Storm Chantal brought an unexpected crisis.
Historic flooding forced park closures and canceled 10 weeks of Durham camps. In 36 years, we’ve never faced closures like this. Early projections totaled more than $200,000 in lost revenue. Quick action from generous partners helped to cut that loss by more than half but we are still facing an $85,000 shortfall.
To fully recover and prepare for 2026, we need your help. Our goal is to raise $85,000 this year. Every gift matters.
Your donation of $25, $250, or $25,000 helps us continue to provide inclusive, nature-based programs that build confidence, kindness, and connection. You can make your tax-deductible gift online today by clicking here.
Prefer to mail a check? Checks can be made to Schoolhouse of Wonder at 3600 North Duke Street, Ste 1, #1419, Durham, NC 27704 with ‘Storm Recovery’ in the memo line.
Thank you for standing with us — in sunshine and in storm
With gratitude,
The Schoolhouse Team
