Scholarships

Schoolhouse of Wonder is a place where everyone can play, learn, and grow toward being their best selves.

We understand that the cost of camp is a barrier for some families. Each year we partner with individuals, businesses, and community organizations to make scholarship funds available to as many families as possible. We offer full and half-scholarships for both campers and CITs.

  • Need-Based. We offer both half and full scholarships to take different levels of need into account.
  • Priority is given to applications received before the priority deadline. We are committed to offering need-based financial assistance to as many children as possible within our scholarship budget.  You may apply late, but priority will be given to applications received before the deadline.
  • One application per three children. The online application will allow you to apply for up to three children in one family/household. If you are applying for more than three children in the same family/household, please submit an additional application to accommodate them.
  • Confidential. All information provided in this application will be kept confidential and will be used only for the purpose of determining scholarship eligibility.
  • We value diversity. Schoolhouse of Wonder awards scholarships regardless of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or other aspects of diversity.

Brookhaven Nature Park Scholarships

We’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department! Schoolhouse of Wonder will be offering our new Pre-K camp at Brookhaven Nature Park in Raleigh this summer. As part of this new pilot program, we have a separate scholarship fund for these camps.

Please fill out this form to apply for a scholarship with Schoolhouse of Wonder specifically at Brookhaven Nature Park, 5125 Berkeley St, Raleigh, NC 27612. Please note that this site is specifically a Pre-K location. Drop off is from 8:00a-8:30a, and pickup is from 2:30p-3:00p (there is no Aftercare option).

As a reminder:

  • Your camper must be 4-years-old by March 31, 2024 and have some structured group experience (preschool, other camps, etc). These camps are designed for campers who have not yet completed kindergarten.
  • If your camper is 5 and has completed kindergarten, they may be more developmentally aligned with our regular camps. You know your kid best!
  • Your camper must be comfortable and successful in using the bathroom independently. We know accidents happen, but we don’t have the facilities or staff to accommodate campers who don’t meet this benchmark.
  • Scholarships do not include transportation, food, or supplies such as bug spray, water shoes, or backpacks. Please let us know on the application if you will need assistance with these things. We will offer support as we are able.
Priority deadline for scholarship applications is April 15th, 2024, but dependent on application volume, applications will be still be accepted on a rolling basis after this date. Scholarship preference will be given to City of Raleigh residents.

Schoolhouse of Wonder will notify scholarship awardees on or before April 19th, 2024 via email. Awardees will be given one week to accept, decline, or request changes to their award. When a scholarship is awarded, the child(ren) must be registered for the camp online by April 30th, 2024. If for any reason this isn’t possible for you, please notify the Schoolhouse of Wonder office as soon as possible.

If you need assistance completing the application, please contact our office at 919-477-2116 or at schoolhouse@schoolhouseofwonder.org. We are happy to help!
