We’ve added new Durham locations and more age groups and camp weeks at some Wake County locations! 

  • West Point on the Eno City Park: ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-12, and CIT 
  • Slocum Camp at Hill Forest: ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-12, and CIT
  • Sandy Creek Park: ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-12, and CIT
  • Brumley Nature Preserve: ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-12, and CIT
  • Umstead State Park (Reedy Creek Entrance): ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-12 (alternating weeks), and CIT

    Double-check and update your account info now, or create one if you haven’t yet. Trust us, future you will thank you when registration opens! Log in to Amilia here.
  2. Save Your Faves
    Make camp shopping easy by bookmarking your top picks in Amilia. Simply click the heart ❤️ next to a camp title to add it to your Wish List. When it’s go-time, just click the heart ❤️ in the top navigation to find all your favorites in one place.
  3. No Surprises, No Fuss
    Take a moment to review our updated Program Policies — it’s a great way to avoid any surprises.

A $30 Early Bird Access Pass allows you to register for summer camp before it’s open to the public. Available for purchase January 2-13, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Early Bird Access?

Early Bird Access allows you to sign up for Schoolhouse summer camps before our regular summer registration opens. When you purchase an Early Bird Access Pass, your funds help keep our programs strong, our staff supported, and our community connected no matter what the year brings.

2. How can I get Early Bird Access?

You can purchase Early Bird Access for $30 through Amilia any time between January 2 and January 13, 2026

Get Early Access in Four Easy Steps:

  • Make sure everyone you’ll be registering is added to your Amilia account.
  • Add the Early Bird Access Pass to your cart.
  • Add everyone on your account to the Access Pass and check out.
  • Register for summer camps starting on January 13th!

🔎 Once you purchase an Early Bird Access Pass, you aren’t able to add people to it. Make sure everyone’s added to your account first!

3. When does Early Bird Access open and close?

Early Bird Access registration for all sites opens on January 13th, 2026 at 10:00am and closes at 11:59pm that same day.

4. Is there a limit to how many spots are available for Early Bird registration?

Yes, there are a limited number of spots available during Early Bird. We encourage you to register early to ensure you secure your child’s spot at our camp.

5. Does an Early Bird Access Pass guarantee that I’ll get the camps that I want? What if the session I want is sold out?

Not necessarily. Early Bird Access does NOT guarantee a camp seat though it will allow you to register a day before we open camps to the public. If a session is sold out, please join our waitlist and you’ll be notified if a spot opens up. In the meantime, you can also explore other available sessions.

6. Can I register for multiple sessions during Early Bird Access?

Absolutely! You can register for as many camp sessions as you’d like. Early Bird Access will allow you to register early for campers and Counselors-in-Training (CIT).

7. What if I need to cancel or change my registration?

Early Bird Access in not refundable. Camps purchased during Early Bird Access follow our cancellation policy.

8. Will I qualify for a discount during Early Bird Access?

Yes! Our multi-camp discounts are the same during Early Bird Access.

9. How do I register for camp during the Early Bird period?

To register, simply visit the Camp Finder on our website and select the camp session(s) you’d like. If you have added an Early Bird Access Pass to your account, you’ll have access to register for Summer 2026 camps from 10:00am-11:59pm on January 13, 2026.

10. What if I miss the Early Bird Access deadline?

If you miss the Early Bird deadline or choose to not participate, you can still register for camp during the regular registration windows starting on January 14th and 15th. Some camp weeks sell out quickly, so we encourage you to sign up as early as you are able to ensure availability.

11. Can I pay in installments?

Yes! We offer a payment plan option for summer camps during both Early Bird Access and regular registration. Payment in full, or a deposit and choice of payment plan, is due at time of registration. Payment in full must be received by the specified date for your participant to be admitted to camp.

12. What if I need assistance with the registration process?

Storm Recovery: Please Help Close the Gap

Dear Schoolhouse Friends,

What a year it’s already been! Now that summer camps are behind us and our flagship park—West Point on the Eno—is partially reopened after historic flooding, I’m writing to share a crucial update and to ask for your help.

Because of you, more than 5,400 young people have discovered the wonder of being outdoors through Schoolhouse field trips, day camps, and leadership training so far this year. You also helped us launch new equity work with the John Rex Endowment and be recognized as leaders in our industry by Durham Magazine and the INDY.

Your enthusiasm and support made all of this possible, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

We’ve Got a New Home for Durham Summer Camps!

,

Starting Monday, July 28, our Durham summer camps will take place in Duke Forest thanks to an exciting new partnership with Duke University! We’re so grateful to their team for rallying the support and resources to make this possible—and we can’t wait to explore this beautiful new space with our campers.

This change comes as we’ve received official word from the Durham Department of Parks and Recreation that West Point on the Eno City Park will remain closed for the rest of the summer as they continue assessing flood damage and planning for a safe reopening.

If you were registered for a camp at West Point, you should have received an email with more details and transfer options. We’ve already been able to offer many families alternative camp placements, and we’re doing our best to accommodate as many campers as possible.

Our sincere thanks to Triangle Land Conservancy for their ongoing support, and to Durham Parks and Recreation, a long-time partner we’ll continue cheering on as they rebuild.

We run a few weeks of fall camps and single-day Discovery Days at our West Point on the Eno location each year. 

Our fall campers get to enjoy adventuring through the changing forest, building fires and forts, whittling, and playing plenty of games. We’ve set up our fall camps and single-day Discovery Days to accommodate as many school calendars as possible. Sign up for as many as you need to cover your camper’s time out of school!

You have to be a little unusual/ ridiculous/ passionate to work at Schoolhouse. The hours are long, the weather keeps you on your toes, and the salary isn’t going to blow you away. But the privilege of introducing kids to nature, helping them discover how capable they are, and watching them grow in confidence every day is absolutely worth it. And the hugs don’t hurt either.

There are not any other programs like this in the area. We love that your leaders stop and teach when kids find cool things instead of sticking with the program.

Burton Elementary

This is my third year coming; each year it’s something different, and my students absolutely love it. I love the storytelling at the end. Folklore and Native American tales are part of the common core and 4th grade Social Studies so this was great.
