Our first spring camp of the year brought us all kinds of springtime magic. From rain and cold to sunshine and daffodils, we had it all! Not even the unpredictable weather could dampen the spirits of our wild hut-builders. We worked together to build two awesome shelters, made a fire, and even tried some pine needle tea. We played some Schoolhouse classics like Beckon, Werewolf, and Scout Mission and went on an “Amber Hunt.” Our hopes of seeing some wildlife were not disappointed. Among other things, we saw a fence lizard, a green anole, a bald eagle, and a bunch of turtles. It’s safe to say that our spring season is off to a wild start!

The art of fire-making is a great way to build skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility. In this short but exciting camp, we spent a couple of wintry days together practicing our fire techniques, playing games, and exploring the frozen Eno River. We worked with primitive and friction fire methods like flint and steel and bow-drill, in addition to covering campfire safety and materials. And, of course, we made time to roast up some tasty s’mores! We hope you enjoy these fun pictures from Keeper of the Fire.
Our first camp of 2018 truly lived up to its name! With sub-freezing temps and even some snow to play in by the end of the week, West Point on the Eno became a winter wonderland for us to explore. This week our campers braved the cold as we constructed our forest fort village, played tons of games, discovered animal tracks, warmed ourselves by the campfire, and, of course, got into a camper vs. staff snowball fight. We hope you enjoy these fun pictures from Winter Village Camp.

During our Eno Winter Explorer Camp we roamed the forest in search of adventure, friendship, and laughter, and ended up finding plenty of each. This week’s highlights included rambling through some of the less-traveled-to sections of the park, finding salamanders, making stick & leaf boats, and roasting doughboys over a camp fire with homemade butter! On a rainy day we made our own fun by creating puppets and skits for each other. We also enjoyed a bunch of woodland games like Windigo, Werewolf, and Kick the Can. This camp was a wonderful way to usher in the Winter Season. We hope you enjoy these fun pictures…
