Growth Rings: New Horizons (Gnarly Stump Basecamp) Photo Gallery
At Schoolhouse of Wonder, we believe that skill development and follow-through are worth acknowledgment and celebration. This week we immersed ourselves in the challenge and excitement of earning our “Rings.” From learning the whittling rules to carving a spoon. We pursued knowledge and skill with safety and purpose in the following core areas: fire building, plant identification and use, and simple woodworking with a pocket knife or vegetable peeler.

Caches & Camouflage (Blackfeather Basecamp) Photo Gallery
The theme for this week was stealth and stashing/hiding items in plain sight. We camouflaged ourselves for various stealth games like Scout Mission and Beckon using natural materials like leaves and mud. We practiced various methods of moving silently and staying hidden. Groups of campers each dug caches to hide a non-perishable item for a lunch fire later in the week. The campers also had the opportunity to find natural hiding spots for items they found in nature such as quartz rocks and walnuts. The campers challenged each other to find their hidden items.
