What a WONDERful week we had! Our campers enjoyed sampling all of the classic Schoolhouse activities including fort building, whittling, and all of our favorite games. This group was also skilled at finding critters in Umstead’s woods and tributaries. We even had fun on our rainy day with songs, stories, and fire-building. Take a look at these pictures to get a glimpse of all the cool things we saw and did!
This week in Rhythm and Roots, campers explored all of the sights and sounds of Brumley Forest. They were able to make their own sounds and music too! Campers created musical instruments such as harmonicas, giant bamboo xylophones, and even windchimes out of recycled glass bottles. Our week also included a variety of Schoolhouse games, fort building, whittling, and lots of wildlife sightings. Check out our pics for a glimpse into our week!

Schoolhouse kids are no strangers to taking leaps – in the literal sense, like jumping off a rock into a river or bounding over a creek bed, or metaphorically, like trusting a counselor to help with a problem or challenging their own perceived limitations.
What’s your leap? Maybe you haven’t yet joined our Schoolhouse family of donors. Perhaps you’re considering increasing your gift. Could be you haven’t made a gift to Schoolhouse for a couple of years.
Whatever it may be, we’re asking you to take the leap with us on November 12. On that day, we’re inviting our families, friends and supporters to demonstrate their confidence in Schoolhouse by making an unrestricted gift.
Our goal is lofty: $20,000 in 24 hours. With your help, we can do it! We’re leaping toward our goal already: In honor of our 30th anniversary year, a generous foundation donor will unlock a gift of $7,500 if together we can match it dollar for dollar. That means if you’re among the first donors to help us reach $7,500 on November 12, your gift will be doubled, making twice the impact! Your gift on Schoolhouse Giving Day will help accomplish so much, like:
…and so much more!

Because we love a good theme, here are a few 30th anniversary-inspired giving ideas:
Your gift of any amount is needed and appreciated. And it’s so easy to give:
Thank you for taking the leap with Schoolhouse of Wonder on November 12.

This week we got to do all sorts of spooky October activities! We built a human-sized spiderweb maze, enjoyed face-painting, carved a pumpkin, roasted pumpkin seeds, and even built our own stilt grass monsters. When we weren’t enjoying all those shenanigans, this group was excited to play games, catch critters, and make a stilt grass fort. We loved ending our week with a family circle inside the fort!

This week in fall camp, things got a little creepy and crawly! Campers learned all about the living creatures that thrive in the fall here at West Point on the Eno. We played many insect and animal themed games, and even got to wear tails of our own during six feathers! Some major highlights this week were learning about what owls like to hunt by dissecting owl pellets, and having a “Dirt Cup” treat! Take a look at these photos to see some fall fun!
