This critter-filled week of camp featured several turtles, hundreds of tiny toads, a few snakes, and more! Counselor Brent kept campers and counselors alike entertained spinning story after story. Campers even became characters in some of the stories. We splashed in the creeks and explored the trails of the park. Check out the photos below to catch a small glimpse of our big week!
Our weapons-themed week was a real hit…it was a flying success… it kept the campers sharp! We practiced our concentration and calmness with archery, learned about the physics of an atl atl, and even had a chance to try throwing some hatchets in this jam-packed week. The campers also had a fantastic time playing games like Six Feathers and Windigo, building dams and stacking rock towers in the creek, practicing whittling skills, and looking for critters (hello snakes and turtles!). Take a look at our photos to get a sneak peek into our fun-filled week!
Our Beaver campers had a blast this week exploring the forest, fields, and creeks of Brumley Forest. We had a chance to see (and touch!) some critters including a praying mantis, crawdads, a northern water snake, and a black rat snake! Games were another hit with campers searching for the best trees to hide behind, dodging flying socks, stealing tails and feathers, and searching for mysterious hidden objects. Viney Village, crafting time, and water time rounded out our dirty, tired, and fun camp days. Check out some photos to get a peek into our week of Beaver camp!
Our Catfish campers had a blast exploring the trails and creeks of Umstead State Park this week. This group had a real flare for architecture and built everything from tiny fairy homes and toad abodes to large forts. We learned the rules of safe whittling and and worked to improve our skills. And no week at Schoolhouse of Wonder would be complete without plenty of games, stories, and (of course) water time! Take a look at some of the photos below to see how we ended each day dirty, tired, and happy!
This week, campers exercised their artistic and musical creativity during our Wild Arts and Music camp! Campers explored all the sounds and art that nature brings us by singing and writing songs, rock stacking, and constructing their very own musical instruments. Along with all the musical fun, of course we found plenty of time to play games in the forest and enjoy exciting water time spots such as Jumping Rock! For the grand finale of the week, campers performed original songs they wrote as a group for the 5-7 year old campers during an all-camp jamboree! Check out some photos of the creativity and fun we had this camp week!
In this week of summer camp we did a variety of fun-filled activities. From making sock puppets, to playing Sock Wars, we had something for everyone. We painted rocks, learned how to tie knots, and played a game or two of Werewolf and Knee Coup. Along with games, and arts and crafts we constructed forts inspired by space ships! We also spent some time exploring the Eno River. Here are a few photos we captured along the way.
