Schoolhouse has a long tradition of passing down wilderness survival skills to our campers. Throughout this week we practiced fire building, shelter construction, and the identification of wild edible plants! We walked the campers through the steps of creating fire, from finding natural firestarters to starting a flame with just a single spark. We tried our hand at making debris huts and boiled up some tasty tea made with native, edible plants. Whether your child is just getting interested in survival skills or is an accomplished fire-builder, this week was a blast!
