If you’re wondering what your camper has been up to this week, here are some questions to get the conversation started…
- Monday we began our week by going over maps, compasses, and plant identification. If trail maps have lines that are very close together what does that tell us? What are the first two things you do when reading a compass? What was your favorite plant and why?
- Tuesday we practiced setting up a tent. The tent would not be a good tent for backpacking. Why? We also learned some basic wilderness first aid Tuesday. What is one thing you learned about first aid and safety? What did you do to “save” Frank?
- This morning we took a break from our backcountry skills to play an original Schoolhouse of Wonder game called Six Feathers. How do you play the game? How do you “play the game with honor?” What was the most difficult thing about the game? The easiest?
