This geology-themed camp week led us to new areas and new activities! We tried to knap arrowheads, carve soapstone, and light quartz and steel striker fires while learning about different rocks and their properties. Campers got to see plenty of critters this week including a couple of box turtles, a northern water snake, and some Stony Creek crayfish. Six Feathers and Windigo were many campers’ favorite games of the week and had us sprinting across the field in face paint and searching for the Windigo’s heart all over Two Trees. Creek time gave us a chance to cool off, splash around, and get muddy. Check out our photo gallery to get a glimpse into our week!
Our Fern week was truly fantastic! Our campers romped and rambled around the forest and got to see plenty of awesome nature including some incredible insects, frogs, crayfish, a luna moth, a queen snake, and a tiny baby snapping turtle! Games were a highlight of the week as well with aliens, beekeepers, and yodas hiding, sneaking, and throwing socks. Fern campers also had a great time climbing at Viney Village, splashing in the creek, and getting muddy. Look at our pictures to see more of our week!
Lightning Bug campers had a great week out at Brumley! Games were a hit with this group and we got to rescue bees from the hive, find great hiding places in the forest, kick the can, and jump the ‘creek’. We also had a great time at Stony Creek splashing around, looking for crayfish, using nets, and getting muddy! When we weren’t at the creek or exploring the forest, we practiced our whittling skills, climbed vines and trees at Viney Village, and even creating an LED-powered lightning bug craft! Check out a few pics of our great week!
This plant-powered week truly lived up to its name as campers practiced their plant identification skills, learned about some of their incredible powers, and used those properties to make salve and lip balms. Plants weren’t the only focus this week – we got to play plenty of games like Werewolf, Windigo, and Dragon’s Egg. Whittling was a favorite for many campers who carved some great hiking sticks, flat-sided objects, butter knives, and of course plenty of pointy sticks:) We cooled off splashing at the Deep Spot, got muddy, and even built a bridge at the Island Spot. Take a look at a few photos to get a quick glimpse of our great week!

This week in Woodland Woodworking camp campers got a chance to improve their woodworking skills including whittling, cross cut sawing, and ember burning to make spoons! Campers brought home their own hand-made mason bee homes and even helped to build benches for a few base camps! When we weren’t busy woodworking, we were able to play many Schoolhouse classic games and discover some of the creatures of Brumley Forest including a rough green snake, salamanders, and plenty of frogs. Take a look at these photos to see all we experienced!
