Our brave explorers set out to discover new lands on the planet Gliese 832c in an epic week of choose-your-own-adventure style fun! We quickly learned the basics of creating shelter, finding food, and maintaining water sources. These skills helped us survive in our new homeland. We played classic Schoolhouse games with a “space-twist” and let our imaginations run wild in the forest. We took a little time each day to cool off in the creeks and explore the waterways of our new-found planet. It was a unique and exciting week that was all together out of this world! Take a look at the photos below to see some of the fun.
With Andy Goldsworthy as our guide, we explored the world of natural arts this week at Umstead State Park. Whether learning about nature-weaving, building sand castles, or creating elaborate mosaics, the Land Art campers let their imaginations run wild! When not creating stunning and fleeting works of art, we hiked and explored some new areas of the park and found tons of critters. We also took time each day to cool off and relax in the creek. We even managed to fit in some games and story-telling. It was a unique and creative week of camp. Take a look at the gallery below to see some of our works of art!
Our Lightning Bug campers had an exciting week exploring the trails and waterways of Umstead State Park. We looked for critters and were not disappointed. We found frogs, turtles, and even a baby northern water snake. We played games like Beckon and Eagle Eye and enjoyed some relaxing time whittling and listening to stories. We got creative and built forts around our basecamp, and some of us used water time to build crayfish homes and mud balls. It was a fun and adventurous week. Take a look at the photos below to catch a small glimpse of our big week!
Whether playing games, singing sings, listening to stories, or splashing in the creek, our Woodpecker campers had a blast at Umstead State Park this week. During village time, some of us learned the basics of whittling with potato peelers while some of us built forts or hunted for the perfect walking stick. We enjoyed looking for critters throughout the park, and water time was a favorite activity each day. Take a peak at the photos below to catch a small glimpse of our big week!
