Description
Campers at Schenck Forest this week will get to explore the background of how a working forest is managed. We'll investigate how prescribed burns affect a forest and create miniature research projects on our own favorite parts of nature. We'll study the endangered Longleaf Pine and the invasive Autumn Olive and we'll journey to the creek to test the water and catalog any creatures we find. Campers will design their own journals to record their finds and share the excitement and joy of curiosity and wonder.
In addition to the theme-related activities listed above, every week of camp may include some classic Schoolhouse activities such as: morning and closing circle, water time, deep woods and field games, whittling, storytelling, and of course, looking for any critters we can find!
