Locations
Crowder County Park
4709 Ten-Ten Rd, Apex, NC 27539Located off of Ten-Ten Road in southeastern Wake County, Crowder County Park is a gem. With the recent addition of nearly 100 acres, this combination of forest, trails, a Butterfly Garden, a Bird Garden, and Crowder pond is a place to learn about the plants and animals that make this unique park home.
Harris Lake County Park
2112 County Park Dr, New Hill, NC 27562This 680-acre park is situated on a peninsula near the Shearon Harris Reservoir in New Hill and is convenient to Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina. Harris Lake has a great combination of forests, trails, and lakeshore making it a great place to play, hike, and enjoy our newest Schoolhouse offering – paddling a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard!
Three Bears Acres
645 Beaver Dam Rd, Creedmoor, NC 27522Between Wake Forest and Durham lies a magical forest just off of Falls Lake. The 50-acre core surrounds a larger 226 acre property that Triangle Land Conservancy protected in 2021. A diverse landscape includes habitat with birds like bobwhite quail, towering white oaks, and slippery elms surrounding miles of creeks and a large pond. We’re working hard to restore some of the infrastructure that was previously here – a toboggan run, mud kitchen, sprayground, sand pit and more. Looking for Schoolhouse plus? It’s here!
Umstead State Park — Loblolly
Our Loblolly location is conveniently located off of I-40 in Umstead State Park between Raleigh, Cary, and Durham. Programs at this location enjoy drop off and pick up out of the main parking lot, the convenience of plumbing in the park bathrooms, and a bit more hiking. The slightly farther hikes lead our campers to amazing basecamps, natural wonders, and water spots in this gorgeous forest.
Umstead State Park — Whispering Pines
Our Whispering Pines location is also conveniently located off of I-40 in Umstead State Park between Raleigh, Cary, and DurhamPrograms at this location have an additional 5-10 minute drive once they enter this park. Although a bit more rustic than Loblolly (portapotties), the basecamps and creek locations are a bit closer together. Come find a marbled salamander or jack-in-the-pulpit!
Camps
Every Schoolhouse camp provides a unique environment of kindness, respect, and learning. Our outdoor day camps have different themes each season, but they are all inspired by our underlying values. Our award-winning camps offer a low camper to staff ratio that allows a sense of freedom while providing a safe and nurturing environment.
Field Trips
Our Field Trips allow students to develop their sense of wonder through active learning in the outdoors. Each Field Trip is a day-long experience designed to offer elementary and middle school teachers and students hands on experiences that build interest and exciting reference points to the curriculum being taught in the classroom. Schoolhouse of Wonder instructors use stories, sensory experiences, and investigative techniques to facilitate learning adventures in science, social studies, math, music, folklore, and more.

Family Fun
We offer activities for the young and the young-at-heart. Our Preschool Explorers programs have a theme to guide our nature-based exploration for 3-5 year olds and their adult(s). Our Weekend Family Adventures also have varying themes ranging from Prehistoric Projectiles to Creek Critters. These activities are for children ages 5 and older and are designed to be shared with the entire family. We absolutely adore spending time outdoors with kids. Sharing that experience with the adults they love the most takes it to another level of awesome!
