This group of campers were excellent plant identifiers especially by Friday! They also built a lean to, did some map-reading, whittled, tried their hand at flint and steel, built a fire, and learned what to do in a few survival worst case scenarios. In addition to survival skills the group brushed up on their tree climbing skills and played an epic survival version of scout mission. It was a great way to end our 2016 at Umstead, thank you for an awesome week.

This group was CRAZY CREATIVE! They were the perfect group to have for a Choose Your Own Adventure camp. Not only did they make interesting decisions and add innovative details to the story, but they were amazing fort architects and talented whittlers. The group enjoyed the abnormally warm temperatures, but still managed to locate a lot of unique fall mushrooms.

This fall’s Woodland Archer Camp was a high-flying adventure! We practiced our archery skills at our forest range by shooting at some pretty fun targets, such as balloons and swinging bags. We also made time to play some games, tell stories, explore the woods of the Eno, and search for critters. We hope you enjoy these fun pictures from this 2-day camp.

Our fourth annual Monster Camp was a little spooky and a lot silly! We had a great time with these kiddos, haunting the Eno with smiles on our faces. We painted pumpkins, told scary folktales, made our own monster costumes, played a ton of monster games, created monster trails for each other, and topped it all of with a rainy and soggy monster celebration at the end of the week. This may have been the best Monster Camp yet! We hope you enjoy these fun pictures.
We had a great time in camp this week. We enjoyed the beautiful fall weather while carving pumpkins and cooking pumpkin seeds over the fire. We painted pumpkins to take home as well! We assisted in a service project this week, too. We helped clean up from Matthew and we worked in the garden where we found a box turtle! We told plenty of spooky and silly stories, learned how to use flint and steel, dressed up in costumes, and did a lot of fall nature art and fort building. By far the favorite moment was finding the Barred Owl!
Despite some wet and cloudy weather, our first ever Lumberjack Camp was a great success. Our adventures this week included building a log cabin camp, embarking on tree id hikes, using a crosscut saw, and throwing hatchets! And after all of that hard work, we built ourselves a nice cook fire and enjoyed some baked beans and scrambled pancakes. We also found plenty of forest critters this week including box turtles, yellow bellied sliders, an eastern king snake, and a couple of rough green snakes. We hope you enjoy these fun pictures from Lumberjack Camp.
