During Face the Windigo camp we not only played the classic game of Windigo, but we acquired different magical objects that helped us to defeat the two Windigos on Thursday. It took cooperation, teamwork, and agility but we conquered the beasts! Along the way we made our own magical objects (wands of wonder), heard stories, and found a few critters too. Spring is definitely underway. Warmer days allowed us to take a few polar plunges in the creek and in the Eno River. Here are a few pictures that captured our camp week together.
We had a blast Roaming the Wild of Harris Lake County Park this week! We spent our time exploring new bits of the park, learning to track animals, building forts, whittling, and more. We stretched our artistic muscles with some nature art, and got our hands dirty doing some planting. We filled any leftover time with games and stories. It was an excellent way to spend a springtime week. Take a look at the photos below to catch a small glimpse of our big week.
This week of camp made it hard to not have spring be our favorite season in Brumley Forest. All sorts of flowers were blooming, the Canada geese started nesting, and the weather was fantastic. We practiced shelter building that resulted in some awesome forts complete with shelves and kitchens, we learned about and practiced fire building techniques, identified trees and plants, and of course looked for tracks and signs of animals throughout Brumley Forest. Games were a highlight of the week with Beckon, Kick the Can, and some very mysterious rounds of Scout Mission. We braved some chilly water to explore the streams and had a blast finding all sorts of critters like crayfish, salamanders, and turtles. Whether we were swinging on vines, climbing trees, or sneaking through the forest – a great week was had by all!
