July 28-August 1: Applause for Claws and Paws Photo Gallery
The Applause for Claws and Paws group channeled their inner animal to soar and roar their way through forest and field games. We had lots of team games and face paint to know who is in on your herd and who is the opposing flock. Just like elephants, we used mud to cool off in the afternoons.
July 28-August 1: Dirt Divers Photo Gallery
The Dirt Diver’s explored and splashed their way through the week! The creek was the perfect place to cool off. We also relaxed under the trees while we colored masks and mazes. We also learned about clams and critters and even caught pine cone fish in the pond!
August 4-8: Rhythms of Nature Photo Gallery
This outdoor adventure took us out into the woods, off trail and into adventure. We rolled logs, searched for signs of animals, and explored the forest as we let our minds and imaginations lead us into discovery. We capped it all off with games, crafts, and stories. We were ready to rock this week as we got in tune with the sounds of the forest. From playing games that had us making silly animal noises to learning bird and frog calls, to creating our very own Maracas.
July 28-August 1: Colors and Camouflage Photo Gallery
This outdoor adventure took us out into the woods, off trail and into an amazing time. We rolled logs, stomped in the creek, and explored the forest as we let our minds and imaginations lead us into discovery. We capped it all off with games, crafts, and stories. This week we spent extra time investigating all of the colors of the forest! We tried to spot plants in every color of the rainbow!
July 28 – August 1: Eureka Photo Gallery
Our first week in Duke Forest! Running, hiding, seeking, tagging, dodging, sneaking and strategizing – there were many ways to play in this fun week full of games. We also built epic forts, explored the forests and creeks, and enjoyed camp in a new space!
July 28 – August 1: Honeybee Photo Gallery
Our first week at Duke Forest and campers were buzzing like bees! We had a chance to build forts, splash in the creek, relax during storytelling, explore the forests and fields, try our hand at whittling, and of course, play some amazing Schoolhouse games!
July 28-August 1: Survival Specialists (Group 2: Lead Counselor Zoe) Photo Gallery
We learned to survive and thrive in this epic week of survival-themed activities! We built our best survival shelters, practiced starting our own fires, tested methods of water purification, and learned to navigate with a compass! The games we played even showed us the importance of stealth and camouflage.
