Summer Camp Changes for 2025
More Camp Spots Means More Adventure!
We know how popular our Umstead State Park locations are, and we’re thrilled to offer more opportunities for campers to join the fun this summer:

- Expanded Capacity: This year, we’ve added more spots for 7- to 9-year-olds at Loblolly and Whispering Pines. Plus, camps for 10- to 12-year-olds will alternate between the two locations most weeks.
- New Locations: We now offer two new locations near Umstead:
- Schenck Forest (ages 5–6 and 7–9)
- Brookhaven Nature Park (ages 5–6)
A Cancellation Policy That Works for You
Plans change—we get it! Our new cancellation policy ensures flexibility:
- Cancel in writing on or before May 16, 2025, and you’ll receive a full refund (minus an administrative fee). Check out the details of our cancellation policy.
“Say Cheese!” Photo Permission Update
We’ve heard from parents who missed seeing their camper in our galleries. Starting this year:
- Photo permission is automatically granted during registration.
- If you’d prefer to revoke photo permission, just email us at schoolhouse@schoolhouseofwonder.org before your child’s camp begins.
Now everyone gets a better chance to spot their happy camper in action!

Take a moment to review our updated Program Policies — it’s a great way to avoid any surprises (and then pinky promise your camper that you won’t argue with our staff about these later 🙂).
