Questions to Ask Your September Streams Camper – Friday
If you’re wondering what your camper has been up to this week, here are some questions to get the conversation started…

Puddle-Wonderful Photo Gallery
This Puddle Wonderful week was rainy enough to load up our puddles and allow us to splash in new creek spots, race boats, and find critters. We also filled our time with classic Schoolhouse games, songs, and stories! Check out some photos from our week together.

Harness the Flame Photo Gallery
This camp week was dedicated to practicing fire-making in a safe and fun environment. Campers learned how to identify and utilize natural firestarters like lighter pine and cedar bark. We explored different methods for building the starting structure for their fires. Each camper had the opportunity to try out various primitive and modern fire starting methods like a bow drill, steel striker, and ferrocerium rod. Each day brought a new opportunity for participants to develop their fire skills. We even had a chance to cook food over a campfire! Marshmallows, YUM! Check out the photos below to see some of the fun.

Fireside Stories Photo Gallery
In Fireside Stories we shared tales and made flames! Our counselors told stories with many lessons and laughs, and campers worked on crafting their own. Campers challenged themselves to practice fire-building skills by building a flame big enough to burn through a string to drop down a treat. We also dipped candles and played some classic Schoolhouse games. We rounded out the week by enjoying the warm(ish) weather with some creek time adventures. Check out the photos to see some of the fun.

Backcountry Dishes and Delicacies Photo Gallery
This week was all about wild foods and cooking. We learned about a few native edible plants and used some to brew tea. We also got to try our hand at making butter the old-fashioned way (and sing a song about it!). Throughout the week we had chances to cook up some campfire classics like bannock (biscuits) and s’mores. When we weren’t practicing our cooking skills, we were busy playing some awesome games in the forest and exploring the springtime park.

With rain and shine, we made our way exploring camp for treasures of all kinds. We learned about maps to find ducks, fires to roast marshmallows, and about the greatest treasure of all-friendship! Check out the photos below to see some of the fun.
