Loblolly

Campers spent the week learning how to positively interact with their environment. Whether it was remembering to pick up their trash throughout the day or finding the best tree to hide behind during our games, we tried them all!

Creation Station (10-12 Year Olds) (Wake – Loblolly, June 10-12, 2024)

Participants discovered how many different forms of nature they can incorporate into their daily routine! From carving walking sticks, to finding the best natural structure to hide behind during our game, and everything in between, nothing was left untried at this exciting week of camp!

Creation Station (7-9 Year Olds) (Wake – Loblolly, June 10-12, 2024)

Campers spent two days exploring our best creek spots and finding the best rocks to skip, and the best places for splashing! When not cooling off in the water, fun games such as beat master and tag-variants were played.

Cottontail (Wake – Loblolly, June 13-14, 2024)

While searching the local woods for animals campers took a detour to also observe all of the evidence they left behind, including fur pelts bones and even scat! When not having their detective hats on, the group enjoyed cooling off in the creek and playing some fun running games.

Tracks and Trails (Wake – Loblolly, June 13-14, 2024)

This group spent a lot of time looking for wildlife in and around the creek. Eventually they were rewarded for their patience big time by finding crawfish, turtles, and even snakes!

Crustacean Exploration (Wake – Loblolly, June 13-14, 2024)

This week our group went out and explored a blue jays natural habitat – the forest! During this time we made blue jay mask crafts, looked for tasty bugs that blue jays may want to snack on, and cooled off in the creek.

During the week campers had the opportunity to make multiple caterpillar themed crafts! When not building bugs, they spent their time looking for real life ones plus other cute critters such as turtles and crawfish!

Lots of adventures were had underneath the oak trees this week at camp! Whether they were used as coverage during a hide-and-seek game, a key location to find cool bugs, or a means of shade for resting after creek time, our forest full of oaks played a key part.
