Schoolhouse camps provide a great opportunity for children to connect with nature through creative play! Campers let their imaginations take over, working together to build a forest village of their own design and ingenuity. We created as many different kinds of structures as we could, using only the natural materials available to us. In our summer village, everyone had a role to play. When weren’t busy with construction, we would tell stories around the village square, played games, took hikes, and discovered new adventures to be had at the Eno.

Questions to Ask Your Hands On: Tying and Carving Camper – Thursday
If you’re wondering what your camper has been up to this week, here are some questions to get the conversation started…

Is your camper led by curiosity? Do they ever wonder what’s flying through the tops of the trees or what’s living below their feet? This week, our 7-12 year old campers used bug nets, binoculars, and magnifying glasses to focus on the flora and fauna around us. We even tried our hand at bird, frog and bug calls to see if we could call them nearer to get a closer look! It was an amazing time of exploring the creatures of the forest guided by our natural curiosities.

The Wonder of Play Photo Gallery
This action packed week was full of high energy games and fabulous fort building! Campers became master craftsman as they found ways to expand their forts and make them unique. They ran, dodged, hid, and laughed their way through many games and also got a chance to see and hold many different animals!

This week campers experienced lots of textures, sights, and sounds throughout the forest! We made our own play dough, painted beautiful photos, and even got to touch a snake! When we weren’t playing games, we were building forts big and small, splashing in the creek, and looking for tiny treasures all around.
