Whispering Pines

This week campers splashed in the creek, cooked a tasty treat over an open fire, and even constructed a dam! We shared stories, played games, learned to whittle, and made new friends. What wonderful eager beavers!

Beaver (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 8-12, 2024)

This week campers became the masters of all four elements! From making rain sticks and splashing in the creek to spear throwing to fire building, to even firing natural clay sculptures in a kiln, we explored the natural world around us.

Four Elements: Water, Earth, Fire, Air (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 8-12, 2024)

Spears and Fishing and Critters oh my! This week we travelled back in time to hone ancient skills such as fishing with bamboo poles, throwing spears using atlatls, learning to track, and so much more!

Primitive Life Skills (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 8-12, 2024)

Our campers became fine feathered friends this week as we explored the forest! We splashed in the creek, jumped over logs, and even made bird feeders out of pinecones.

Robin (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 15-19, 2024)

From shelter building to fire making to navigating with compasses, our campers learned how to not only survive in the forest, but thrive too! We saw cool critters in the creek, raced through the forest, and developed friendships along the way.

Survive & Thrive (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 15-19, 2024)

This week was all about growth as our campers worked on their growth rings skills. We built roaring fires, whittled, searched for snakes, identified plants, and even tried navigating with compasses! Of course, we also had time for lots of games and cooling off in the creek.

Growth Rings: All Encompassing (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 15-19, 2024)

This week we flapped our wings and soared! We splashed in the creek, played silly games, and even made our very own caterpillars that turned into butterflies. We may have started off as little caterpillars, but by the end of the week we were flapping our wings in the breeze as confident butterflies!

Butterfly (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 22-26, 2024)

This week we learned all about our feathery friends – and other fun animals in the forest! Even during a rainy week, we had time to splash in the creek, play lots of games in the woods, and even got to pet a snake! We left this week with new friends, a smile on our face, and mud on our clothes!

Fowl Play (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 22-26, 2024)

This week we mastered allll the crafts! We whittled, made bracelets, made pottery out of natural clay, and even tested our craftsmanship at the creek by building a damn. We learned a lot, played a lot, and made so many new friends!

Craft Masters (Wake – Whispering Pines, July 22-26, 2024)

This week was so turtle-y awesome dude! We found lots of critters in the creek and on the forest floor and had a chance to hold them. We made handprint turtles and even turned ourselves into stylish turtles and played an action packed game of Turtle Tag! We made lots of new friends this week as we splashed, played, and explored together.
