This week we learned all about what you need to stay alive in the wilderness and different survival skills. We gathered dew and dug a solar still for water and built debris huts for warmth and shelter. We practiced fire building skills and lighting matches and got to try out steel strikers and a bow drill. Our fire skills culminated in cooking ‘snakes’ over the fire, which were delicious! When we weren’t practicing surviving, we were busy setting a record for Brumley snakes! We caught two rough green snakes, two northern water snakes, a black rat snake, a red-bellied snake, and a queen snake! We got muddy, climbed vines, whittled, and played games in the forest – it was a week jam-packed with fun! Check out our photos to catch a glimpse into our fun week.
