Description

Througout this week we will practice firebulding, shelter construction, and the identification of Umstead's local plants! We'll walk campers through the steps of creating fire like finding natural firestaters to starting a flame with just a single spark. We'll try our hand at making lean-to shelters and run tests to see how they would hold up in the rain and other elements. We'll even boil up some tasty pine needle tea. Whether your child is just getting interested in survival skills or is an accomplished fire-builder, this week will be a blast!

*In addition to the theme-related activities listed above, every week of camp will include some classic Schoolhouse activities such as: morning and closing circle, water time (weather permitting), deep woods and field games, whittling, storytelling, and of course, looking for any critters we can find.
