We packed as much adventure and exploration as possible into our 5 days together in Fern camp. We hiked the trails, splashed in the creek, and found critters of all kinds, including frogs, toads, crayfish, and snakes both large and small. We even found a big ol’ salamander! We played games like Kick-the-Can, Werewolf, Jump the Creek, and more. We found time each day to cool off in the creeks and dig in the mud. We filled any time we had left with songs, stories, whittling, and fort-building. It was a full week of summer Schoolhouse-style! Take a look below to see some fun photos of our week.
If you learned to whittle with a potato peeler, built a mud tunnel, found a crayfish, or played Beckon and Eagle Eye, you might have been a camper in Cardinal camp! We spent the week exploring Umstead State Park and seeing all that the great outdoors have to offer us. Whether hiking the trails, using binoculars to scan the horizon, or splashing around in the creek, we made the most of our time together. Counselors told stories and led songs and we all learned something new. It was a fun week full of new friends and laughter. Check out some of our photos below to see the adventure!
Games, forts, songs, whittling, water time–we had it all at Scales, Tails, and Feathers camp! We spent our week at Umstead State Park hiking the trails and learning all about different kinds of animals. We found crayfish, snakes, and even a teeny frog. Some campers took the opportunity to hone their skills and earned various Growth Rings. Of course, no week at Schoolhouse would be complete without some classic games like Six Feathers, Beckon, and Werewolf. Take a look at the photos below to see some of our adventure!
Whether honing their whittling skills or learning a variety of new knots, our campers this week had a blast enjoying our theme. We learned about different kinds of knives and their uses, while also focusing on the rules and guidelines that allow us to work safely with knives of all kinds. Looking for critters in the woods and creek was another hit of the week. We found crayfish, snakes, toads, and a tortoise, among other things. We built forts and played some classic Schoolhouse games like Beckon and Six Feathers. It was a fun and unique week! Check out the photos below to see a bit of our adventure.
Flying Squirrel campers had a fantastic time rambling around the forest, running through the field, and cooling off in the creek. This week was full of games, crafts, whittling, and some great water time. Campers practiced their hiding and sneaking skills in games like Beckon and Eagle Eye, but the hit game of the week was Sock Wars. Campers dodged and ducked flying socks while trying to launch them at the other side, all the while trying to protect their Jedi! Creek time was another favorite of many campers with some choosing to catch crayfish, some wild splash wars, some creek construction, and plenty of exploring. Any time we had left was filled with storytelling, whittling, and some climbing around Viney Village. Check out our photo gallery to get a glimpse of our great week!
