Teamwork & Adventure was the name of the game for our Chart Your Own Course campers. This week’s unique theme kept the campers cracking codes, solving problems, identifying plants, and reading maps. They worked together not only to make decisions during our week-long Choose Your Own Adventure game, but also to build various projects in the creek during our daily water time. Of course, we found critters like crayfish and turtles and took some time to play classic Schoolhouse games like Six Feathers. It was a special and exciting week with an awesome group of campers!
Our Fox campers had a delightful week full of woods-hiking, game-playing, and creek-splashing. We learned a bit about foxes, including how to identify their tracks and how to tell the difference between a grey fox and a red fox. The most exciting and unique part of the week was the large and fancy hut the group worked together to make. It featured a fence, a path, a mailbox, and even a doorbell! Of course we found critters like crayfish, snails, frogs, and a whole bunch of box turtles. We even made time to play some classic Schoolhouse games like Scout Mission. It was an excellent week.

Our Native Ways campers had a busy week full of eclipse-watching, hatchet-throwing, spear-launching, fire-building, trap-setting and much more! When not working on their new skills, campers enjoyed some classic Schoolhouse games like Windigo and Six Feathers. They saw critters of all kinds and had an especially successful time catching some of the biggest snakes we’ve seen all summer. Water time at the Eno River was delightful and refreshing; many campers especially enjoyed the trip to Secret Beach. It was another dirty, tired, and happy week!
Our Raccoon campers had quite the week! We kicked it off on Monday with some special eclipse activities, taking time to learn about sun safety and watch the solar eclipse. After that, it was back to Schoolhouse as normal! Our campers practiced sneaking, running, and flinging with games like Beckon, Dragon’s Egg, Werewolf, and Sock Wars. They also saw some cool critters like a northern water snake, a black rat snake, and a hickory horned devil caterpillar. They also whittled, built forts, explored the Eno River, made smudges, and hiked and explored the park. It was a fun week and a delightful end to our summer season.
