What a Wood-erful World Photo Gallery
What a wood-erful time we had in camp this week! While we focused a lot of our time on our whittling projects, we also had time for finding fun critters in the creek, catching snakes, playing our favorite games like Defeat the Lich, and covering ourselves with mud! We made fires on Tuesday and created burn bowls for our spoon projects, and some of us even toasted our lunch a little too much… It sure was a week to remember!
Spies of the Forest Photo Gallery
Our spy themed week was full of creative stories and riddles that kept our campers wondering what exciting thing would happen next! We also spent a lot of time in the water, searching Stony Creek for all of its treasures like clay, crawdads, and even old bottles! Our favorite games this week were Kneecoup in the Rain, Scout Mission, and Dragon’s Egg. Getting to visit the Deep Water Spot was the highlight of many of our weeks!
Woodpecker Photo Gallery
This week our little woodpeckers had so much fun stomping around and playing in the creek, from taking turns in our favorite jumping spot to finding all the cool critters, this week’s water time was a blast! Some other highlights of the week included making a fun woodpecker craft (that actually pecked!), rolling logs to find cool bugs, and playing our favorite Schoolhouse games together!
Growth Rings Bonanza Photo Gallery
Thirty growth rings were awarded this week during Growth Ring Bonanza! Whether it was using steel strikers to start a fire, carving a butter knife, or learning to identify plants all campers really rounded out their outdoor skills and had a chance to try new skills too.
Feet in the Creek Photo Gallery
Campers enjoyed getting wet this week as they put their whole bodies in the creek; not just their feet! During this time opportunities were had to skip rocks, search for snakes, catch crawfish, and have fun in our Splash Zone. When not in the water many kids also grouped up to make shelters as well.
Frog Photo Gallery
Campers had a rabbeting time during our Frog themed week at Umstead State Park! After spending the mornings searching for toads or playing Leapfrog Tag, the group cooled off in the creek counting tadpoles and were amazed at how many critters they saw every day.
Luna with Overnight Photo Gallery
One of our most legendary weeks of the summer – our Luna camp for girls, female-identifying, and non-binary campers ages 10-12! A special week where we focused on building community and developing a better sense of ourselves as a group and as individuals. We had an amazing time trying everything from tomahawk throwing to classic Schoolhouse games to fire building and wilderness skills. On Thursday evening we stayed at camp overnight!
