We kicked off our week with Mammal Monday and never looked back! We learned about amphibians, reptile, birds, and even insects. We found critters of all kinds, from snakes to worms. We played games and hiked the trails of Harris Lake County Park. We had an especially good time listening to all kinds of stories and even singing a few songs. It was an excellent week of camp! Take a look at the photos below to see how we ended each day dirty, tired, and happy!

Our Tadpole campers had a swimmingly good time this week! We learned about the rules of whittling and got to practice throughout the week. We went on a bug hunt and learned a little bit about nature’s camouflage by looking at and for bugs. We played games like Werewolf and Beckon. We took time each day to cool off and splash around in the creek. We looked for critters and skipped stones. It was an exciting and adventurous week! Take a look at the photos below to catch a small glimpse of our big week.
It’s a log! It’s a leaf pile! It’s a Schoolhouse of Wonder camper! Our campers really embraced the camouflage spirit this week. Whether learning to disguise and hide themselves or noticing the camouflage of critters of the forest, our theme was everywhere this week. We used our hide-and-seek skills in games of all kinds-blending right into the natural world around us. We also stretched our creative muscles with elaborate fort-building and arts & crafts. Check out the photos below and find us if you can!

We couldn’t have picked a better theme for our cool fall weather than Campfire Cooking! Campers learned all about fire building, practiced constructing ‘log cabin’ and ‘teepee’ style fires, and then we built one together to cook on. Fires aren’t the only part of cooking though. Campers practiced knife skills chopping potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, green peppers, and zucchini for our ‘hobo packets’ that we roasted over the fire. Even on a rainy and cool Friday, we tried our hand at ‘chocolate cake pancakes’ over a camp stove. Crafts like monster masks, corn husk creations, and wooden snakes were nice when we needed a break from the fire. When we weren’t cooking, campers tried their hand at whittling, hiking to areas like the Boneyard, and playing games like Beckon, Park Ranger, and Bum Bum Bum. Check out the photos below to get a glimpse into our fun camp!

If you snacked on doughboys, learned to play marbles and horseshoes, went canoeing and fishing, you might have been a camper at Old Timey Adventures camp! We had a blast out at Harris Lake County Park this week enjoying all things old timey. We played games, sang songs, and heard stories all rooted in the days of yore. Of course, no week at Schoolhouse would be complete without plenty of forest and field games. Check out the photos below to see the throwback fun!
