June 16-20: Growth Rings: Learn to Earn Photo Gallery
Not only were we able to practice our fire skills, work on our whittling techniques, create plant presses, and look for snakes, but we also enjoyed running through the forest playing games, and opening up a mud spa. The creek was the perfect way to cool off after earning all those Growth Rings!
June 16-20: Build Your Village Photo Gallery
We spent our days appreciating and enjoying the nature around us including the water, sticks, grass, rocks, shells, and (especially) the mud. Finding critters like crawfish, butterflies, and snakes was also so much fun! The best part was all the new friends we made while playing in the forest.
June 16-20: Catfish Photo Gallery
Our Catfish Crew spent their days with fishing poles in hand! We tried to attract fish at the pond and played a game where we tried to avoid the fish scientist while searching for his hidden tools in the forest without being seen! We worked on our nature journals drawing the animals we saw throughout our adventures before cooling off in the creek! What a fin-tastic week!
June 16-20: On the Right Track Photo Gallery
This week we tracked the critters and animals at West Point on the Eno! We practiced our tracking skills as we explored the trails, creeks, and forest surrounding the Eno River. We had a chance to pull out our field guides, binoculars, magnifying glasses, and nets in search of as many animals as we could find. We’ also looked for signs of our more elusive mammalian friends – raccoons, deer, and river otters. Even the games we played this week encouraged observation, stealth, and staying on the right track!
June 16-20: Soaring Through summer Photo Gallery
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to soar through the air? This week was all about the fun of flight! We tried our hands at different primitive projectiles as we discovered what it’s like to take to the skies. We answered important questions like: Will you be able to hit the target with the bow and arrow or launch your dart using the atlatl? At river time we felt what it’s like to soar off the jumping rock and to watch a skipped rock perfectly skim over flat water. It was a week to remember!

This week campers became friends with the plants of the park by creating flower crafts, playing tree tag, and getting to try out their tree-climbing skills! Along with these themed activities, campers had a chance to build forts, splash in the creek, relax during storytelling, explore the forests and fields, tried their hand at whittling, and of course, playing some amazing Schoolhouse games!
