Our Woodchuck campers had a busy and exciting week out at Brumley Forest. They played games like Kick the Can (don’t let Farmer Jones get you!) and Sock Wars (protect your Jedi!). Some spent time building things like forts, a millipede playground, a crayfish castle, and a beaver dam. They even got to see the teeniest snake we’ve found all summer! Water time was a welcome activity each day with plenty of time to splash, jump, build with mud, and relax in the creek. Take a look at our photo gallery to see a few snapshots of our adventures!
Our Growth Rings: Primitive Skills campers hiked, played, splashed, and developed their survival skills this week. Whether learning to identify plants and trees, practicing the basics of fire-building, honing their whittling skills, or learning critical differences in native snakes, the campers enjoyed all that Brumley Forest has to offer. They saw animals like turkey vultures, butterflies, snakes, caterpillars, and crayfish. They also played a themed game of Scout Mission where they had to find the magic snake, magic wooden knife, and magic fire cloth. And, of course, they took time out each day to enjoy the creek during water time. Take a look at the gallery below to get a sense of the fun we had!
