This curious group of campers had a great week exploring Umstead State Park. We played games like Run Rabbit Run and Scout Mission, practiced our whittling skills, built forts, and much more. We took time each day to cool off in the creek and listened to plenty of stories. The highlight for many campers was finding a bunch of critters throughout the week. From snakes to crayfish, this group saw it all! Take a look at the photos below to see some of the fun.
Our Flying Squirrel campers had an excellent week exploring Umstead State Park. We hiked the trails and cooled off in the creek. We played running and sneaking games, practiced our mud- based face painting skills, built forts, learned about whittling using potato peelers, and much more. Of course, no week at Schoolhouse would be complete without a few critters, and we found plenty of those. A highlight of the week for many campers was watching a spontaneous nature moment that featured a spider versus a wasp! Check out the photos below to see how we ended our days dirty, tired, and happy!
If your camper came home with knowledge of edible plants, fire-building, or how to make a splint out of sticks, they might have been a camper in Young Survivalist camp! This week, we learned all kinds of ways to survive and thrive in the wilderness. Our week focused on everything from shelter-building to orienteering and everything in between. Of course, we took time to play some classic Schoolhouse games like Windigo and cooled off each day in the creek. Searching for critters, whittling, and listening to stories filled up any time we had left. Check out the photos below to see some of the fun!
Fun in the sun! Our campers had the time of their lives soaking up the sun, catching critters and making waves in the creek. We also spent time learning how to skip rocks and build stick boats to float along the stream. Of course we played our most popular games like Beckon, Kick the Can, and Jump the Creek. The fun never stopped with this group! Check out the photos below and see for yourself!
