What an epic week of fort building and fire making! We crafted bridges, hideaways, and abodes. We learned how to make our own fires and even had hot cocoa and popcorn made over the flames! We played lots of silly games, enjoyed the last of the warm weather in the creek, and made lots of new friends.

We soaked up the beautiful fall weather this week and enjoyed the best of both worlds as we sat by the fire in the morning and splashed in the creek in the afternoon! We roasted marshmallows, practice our fire making skills, whittled, made lots of friendship bracelets, and so much more.

Adventure was had as the group enjoyed a variety of activities throughout Umstead State Park. Each camper had a chance to explore a multitude of new skills and activities this week. We enjoyed four creek spots, saw a variety of wildlife (including Northern Water Snakes!), and even learned how to safely start and manage fires. Over 10 growth rings were earned too!

This short week was jam packed with fire making, cooking, baking, running, whittling, climbing, and so much more! Campers had a chance to practice their fire making skills and learned the difference between baking and cooking over a fire. When we weren’t baking or churning butter we were exploring the forest, playing in the fallen leaves, and being silly!

The campers let their creative ideas fly this week as we built fantastic forts and shelters in the woods! When the group wasn’t busy gathering sticks, whittling them, and building with them they also played in the creek, climbed countless trees, and found the first Northern Water Snake of the spring season!

Campers had a great time as they played under many different pines throughout Umstead State Park! After playing fun games like Sock Wars, Scout Mission, and Werewolf, the group was eager to take it to the next level as we added additional rules and challenges to the games. When enjoying the shades of the pines we also played in the creek, searched for wildlife, and whittled.

Campfire Tastes & Tales photo Gallery
Campers had so much fun this week putting their creative minds to work! We worked hard on making plays to perform on the fern gulley stage and stretched our imaginations to make props out of natural materials. When we weren’t all about the showbiz, you could find us catching crawfish, playing games, and going down epic mudslides.

The forest is coming alive this spring and we got up close and personal with all the exciting spring time things! We jumped into the creek, went on lots of snake searches, built cool forts, and even slid down an epic mudslide. What a way to jump into spring!

Scales And Trails photo gallery
Many scales were found as we hiked the trails this week at Umstead State Park! From turtles and fish to Northern Water Snakes got the opportunity to interact with many scaly creatures. The group also enjoyed paracord bracelet making, playing kick the can, and whittling.
