Brumley Forest

June 30-July 3: Backyard Bushcrafting with an Overnight Photo Gallery
A short week felt a bit longer when campers were able to stay overnight at camp! During the days, we learned skills that would help us if we were lost in the forest like navigating with compasses and plant identification, and how to roast the perfect smore. A twilight walk around the pond let us see a beaver before we tucked in our tents for the night.

July 7-11: The Forest Frontier Photo Gallery
Water water everywhere! We’ve found new ways to play and brought back some classic fun! Building forts and playing games filled out mornings before we cool off with mud tattoos and sponge battles! We also loved seeing all the critters like newts and butterflies!

July 7-11: Teamwork Makes the Streamwork Photo Gallery
Lots of water means lots of fun! The week was filled with new places to explore and challenges to overcome. We made a cool dam (and took it back down), climbed trees, and colors to find in the forest! No matter what we were working on, we did it together!

July 14-18: Fern Photo Gallery
This week was absolutely fern-nominal! We had so much fun exploring the forest and the creek. We found many treasures like clam shells and clay. We played a lot of tagging games and also some sponge dodgeball! We will look back on this week and friendships with frond memories.

July 14-18: Aiming for Adventure Photo Gallery
This week we tried our hand at primitive projectiles such as atl atls, tomahawks, and bows and arrows! Worked on our aim and precision in the mornings before cooling off in the creek! We also found some forest creatures along the way, like the patient eastern box turtle, who let us check him out up close!

July 14-18: Calm of the Wild Photo Gallery
Take a deep breath and take a break! This week we appreciated some of the slower ways of the forest. We watched some clouds, practiced finding our way with a compass, and caught some crawdads. We also enjoyed some fun teamwork games like Sponge Wars and Bakwali to balance out all the relaxing.

July 21-25: Firefly Photo Gallery
The Fireflies flit and frolicked through the forest while making crafts and friends. We also LOVED the mud and clay this week. The creek was a perfect way to cool off and clean up in the afternoon after playing sneaking, hiding and running games in the morning.

July 21-25: Growth Rings: Pursuing Precision Photo Gallery
This week was so fun to try new things! To earn growth rings, we had to learn new ways to whittle, read up in our snake guides, and practice our hand at fire making! We also found lots of critters like crawfish, clams, snails, and a tulip tree silkmoth while playing forest games and cooling off in creek time.
