Our Bobcat Camp started with a roar! We saw some fantastic bobcat den and fort building with many creative ideas. Campers and staff had a great time playing some classic Schoolhouse games like Werewolf, Mystery Animal 3000, and more. A surprise of the week was how many wild fruits were ripening! We got to try blackberries, autumn olive, and even some wild cherries! When it got hot our bobcats prowled down to the creek to cool off. We stayed busy catching crayfish, building dams, skipping rocks, and just dunking our hair into the water. Our Brumley Forest bobcats had a great week!
Our week of camouflage was a great success! We learned all about different things to think about when trying to blend in (shapes, colors, shadows, and textures). Nature provided the materials we used to disguise ourselves including plenty of mud, leaves, and grasses. Our skills were put to the test as we played many hiding and sneaking games including Eagle Eye, Beckon, and an extra sneaky version of Scout Mission. Creek time was a favorite of many campers this week. An epic battle between islands, creek jumping, getting across the creek using a skinny log, building a dam, and looking for critters filled our time at Stony Creek. Take a look at our pics to see some of the awesome things we did. If you see a picture that looks like nothing is happening, look again – we’re probably just camouflaged!
This group spent the week exploring and investigating the four elements. Each day was devoted to an element, culminating in an EPIC Friday scout mission game involving all four. Although wind did not cooperate for its day, there were no complaints when the group played WINDigo. Other activities included building boats, creating mud creatures/cubes, and making a fire to roast marshmallows for s’mores.
