If you’re curious about what your child has been up to in camp this week, here are some questions to get the conversation started…
- What are the 3 things a fire needs to burn? (Fuel like sticks, oxygen, and an ignition source)
- What are different ignition sources (what are some ways you could start a fire)? (Matches, a lighter, quartz and steel striker, magnifying glass, bow drill)
- What are some different ways you tried to gather water? (Solar still, plant respiration bags, morning dew) Why wouldn’t you want to drink right out of the creek? Would you in a survival situation?
- What is your favorite game that you’ve plaited so far? Why did you like it? (Park ranger, knee-coup, eagle eye, dragons egg, poison dart frog, jump the creek)
