- The group practiced their map reading skills by looking at an Umstead trail map and a North Carolina road map on Monday morning. What is the first thing you need to do when reading a trail map? How do you look up a specific city in North Carolina? Did you think reading one of the maps was easier than the other?
- Campers also learned about several edible plants on Monday. What edible plants did you learn about and how do you identify them? Why do you have to ask a counselor before eating a plant from the forest?
- Tuesday the group played a wilderness survival themed scout mission game. What was the mission? What role did the staff play? Did the group survive?
